Browsing, selecting, and favoriting voices

You need access to a VideoMule workspace. To choose a voice for an existing project, open a project with its script ready. An ElevenLabs connection is optional; you can browse the built-in catalogue without one.

Understand the three kinds of voice playback

A library sample demonstrates a voice's sound; it does not generate your script. The script player's temporary voice helps you review wording and pacing. Your project voice selection is used when you generate narration.

Find a voice in the library

Open Voice Library from the workspace sidebar. Choose a source below the search box:

• All: browse the voices available in the library together.
• Your voices: find voices from your connected ElevenLabs account. If you have not connected an account, this view shows setup guidance.
• Catalogue: browse the system catalogue.
• Favorites: return to your saved shortlist.

To narrow the results:

1. Enter a voice name, accent, or descriptive term in Search voices. For example, search for Adam, British, or conversational.
2. Use All languages to choose the narration language.
3. Narrow further with All genders and All accents.
4. Choose Newest first, Name (A → Z), or Name (Z → A) from the sort menu.
5. Use Next and Prev when results span multiple pages.

The result count shows how many voices match. Remove an individual filter chip or choose Clear all to broaden the search.

Read a voice card

Cards show the voice name, language badges, and available details such as gender, accent, age, and intended use. Badges such as EN identify languages; a + number indicates additional languages beyond those displayed. Check these badges rather than relying only on the voice's name or description.

Some library cards carry a Featured badge. In the project picker, there is also an Owner label and a star-shaped Show owner voices only filter. Use those labels to find the corresponding voices; a Featured or Owner label does not mean you have connected your own ElevenLabs account.

Listen and save favorites

Click Play preview on a card to hear its sample. During playback, the control changes to Stop preview. Compare a few samples before choosing a narrator.

Each card has two separate favorite actions:

Removing a favorite of either kind deletes it outright; there is no undo. Removing a team favorite removes it for every member.

Use the heart for your own shortlist and the separate team action when marking a team choice. Favoriting a voice is separate from selecting it for a project.

For example, open Favorites, search for Adam, and compare the samples and descriptions of the matching saved voices. Clear the search to see the rest of your favorites.

Select a voice for a project

1. Open the project's Script screen and check the active language in the toolbar.
2. Open Change Voice using the microphone icon in the top toolbar.
3. Check the panel subtitle, such as Select the voice for English, to confirm which language you are choosing for.
4. Search by name, accent, or use case. Use All, Male, Female, or Neutral, the Accent menu, or Show favorites only to narrow the choices. Turn off Show owner voices only if you want the broader selection.
5. Play a sample, then select the voice card itself. The selected card has a check mark.
6. Choose the Quality setting, then click Use [voice name] to apply the choice. Click Cancel to leave without applying it.

Use the choices offered for the active project language when selecting a compatible voice. A voice found in the full library may not appear in that language's picker. If a saved voice is missing, clear the picker filters and check the project language first.

After reviewing your script and voice choice, use Generate Voiceover to create narration. Selecting a card or playing its sample is not the generation step. See Generating Your Video for the generation workflow.

Standard and High Quality (2x)

The Quality menu offers Standard and High Quality (2x). High Quality doubles what the narration draws from your organization's monthly voiceover minutes: a three-minute video uses six minutes of the allowance. The doubled amount is checked before generation starts and deducted against the finished audio's actual duration.

Choose the quality before applying the voice selection and generating. The 2x label concerns quota consumption; it is not a playback-speed setting. Check your workspace's Usage page when planning generation.

High Quality applies to VideoMule's own catalogue voices. Voices from a connected ElevenLabs account are generated through that account instead, so they do not use your VideoMule voiceover minutes and the 2x rate does not apply to them. See Bring Your Own ElevenLabs Voice.

For voices connected through your own ElevenLabs account, the Voice Library states that generation is billed directly to your ElevenLabs plan. Review that account's allowance separately; do not assume it follows the catalogue's VideoMule quota example.

Keep script preview settings separate

On the script screen, open Preview Settings above Preview video (for review). This menu contains playback speed and the voices available for the in-browser preview, including voices labeled Local or Remote.

Changing this preview voice does not choose the voice for generated narration. Use Change Voice for that. If the script playback sounds different from the sample you selected, check which of these two controls you are using. See Reviewing and Editing Your Script for script review.

Bring your own ElevenLabs voice

Open Voice Library and find Connect your ElevenLabs account. Follow Bring Your Own ElevenLabs Voice for account setup, voice preparation, connection, and syncing. Return to Your voices to find your connected voices, then choose a suitable voice from the project's voice picker.

If Your voices is empty, check whether your account is connected and follow the setup guide's syncing instructions. You can continue browsing Catalogue while setting up your own voice.

Troubleshooting

• No search results: remove the search text, clear language/gender/accent filters, and return to All. Filters can exclude a voice that is otherwise in the library.
• A favorite is missing in a project: check the active language and clear the owner, gender, and accent filters in Change Voice.
• The Use button is disabled: the current voice may already be selected and unchanged. Select the intended voice and quality before applying a different choice.
• The sample is silent: check device volume and whether the browser tab is muted, then try Play preview again.
• Preview sounds unlike the chosen narrator: browser script playback and library voice samples serve different purposes. Check Change Voice for the project's narration selection.
