Managing projects and recovering deleted projects

Managing projects and recovering deleted projects

Use Projects to find your videos, check their progress, and return to the next step in your workflow. Open Trash when you need to recover a deleted project or permanently remove one.

Before you start

Sign in to VideoMule and select the organization that contains your project. Open Projects from the sidebar. If the sidebar shows only icons, use its expand control to show the navigation labels.

Find a project

  1. Enter part of the project name in Search projects. Allow the results to update.
  2. Narrow the list with the All Stages dropdown. Choose Upload, Outline, Script, Audio, Editor, or Render.
  3. Use the status tabs to narrow it further: All, Completed, Processing, Pending, or Failed.
  4. Scroll below the cards to use the page numbers or previous/next arrows. The Showing … of … projects count tells you which results you are viewing.

To broaden your search again, clear the search text, choose All Stages, and select All.

The stage filter identifies the part of the workflow. The status tabs help distinguish finished work, processing work, pending work, and failures. Read the individual card badge before deciding what to do next; a completed stage does not always mean that your final video has been rendered.

Read the project cards

Each card shows a thumbnail, project name, date, creator, file format, resolution, and available language buttons. The badge on the thumbnail gives more specific progress information.

BadgeWhat to do next
Script ReadyOpen the project to review the script and continue toward voiceover generation.
Ready to ExportOpen the project to continue editing or prepare the final export.
RenderedUse the available download or export controls when you need the finished output.
Analyzing VideoCheck the project's processing state before starting another action.
Outline QueuedThe outline step is still pending; follow the action offered on that project.
Script Failed or Outline FailedInspect the failed stage and its message before deciding how to continue.
DEMOIdentifies the sample How to use VideoMule project.

Language buttons such as EN, FR, and ML identify language versions. Select the language you want to open. Check the state shown inside that version: a project with a rendered version can still have another language version that failed during processing.

Reopen a project and resume work

For an existing project, use its card instead of New or Add a new video. Select the card to open its workflow, or select a language button to open that version. The destination depends on the project's state.

For example, to resume a script that is waiting for narration:

  1. Search for the project name.
  2. Find its Script Ready card and open it.
  3. Review the Script page and the selected language/version.
  4. If it shows Voiceover pending, review your script before using Generate Voiceover when you are ready to proceed.

Returning to the project lets you inspect the work already available. Before repeating an upload, analysis, generation, or render after an interruption, check the current stage and any processing or error message. Some pending or failed cards offer Start analysis rather than a simple Open action.

For the next steps, see Reviewing and Editing Your Script and Rendering and Exporting.

Rename, download, or delete a project

Open the three-dot menu beside the project name on its card.

Rename

  1. Choose Rename.
  2. Enter the new project name in Name.
  3. Choose Save, or Cancel to leave the name unchanged.

Use a descriptive name that you can find later with Search projects.

Download

Choose Download from the card menu to request the available project download. The app may show Preparing download… while it prepares the file. Check your browser's downloads for the result.

To work with a particular rendered output, use Exports in the sidebar and follow Rendering and Exporting.

Delete

Choose Delete when you want to remove a project from the active project list. Read any confirmation shown before proceeding. Use Trash to find deleted projects that are still available to restore.

Recoverable deletion and Permanently Delete are different actions. If you may need the project again, keep the recovery option available.

Restore a deleted project

  1. Open Projects, then select Trash. The number beside Trash shows the items currently listed there.
  2. Find the project by its name and thumbnail. Its card shows how long ago it was deleted and a remaining-days countdown.
  3. Choose Restore on that card.
  4. Return to Projects and search for the project to check that it is available again.

A deleted project stays in Trash for 60 days. After that it is removed automatically, along with its files, and can no longer be restored. Restore what you need before the countdown on its card runs out rather than treating Trash as long-term storage.

Each card counts down its own remaining days. The example shows 13 remaining, 47 days after it was deleted.

Select projects for permanent removal

In Trash, use the checkbox on each card to select the projects you intend to remove. Select all is available above the cards, and the selection count lets you check how many items are selected. Clear any unwanted selections before proceeding.

Permanently Delete becomes available when an item is selected. Use it only when you no longer need the selected projects; permanent removal is not the recoverable Trash action. Read any confirmation carefully before completing it. To recover a project instead, use its Restore button.

Permanent deletion is about removing the files, not about reclaiming your allowance. A project's storage is released as soon as you move it to Trash, so deleting it permanently does not free any further space. Check Usage for your organization's current storage figure.

For storage management, open Usage to check your organization's current usage and consult Plans and Usage Limits.

Use the demo and dashboard tutorials

The How to use VideoMule card has a DEMO badge so you can distinguish it from your own work. Open it to explore the sample project.

Below the project list, Getting started with VideoMule provides tutorial cards for:

  • Getting Started with VideoMule — creating a first project, uploading videos, and navigating the dashboard.
  • Working with Scripts — editing scripts, voiceover settings, and script versions.
  • Using the Video Editor — the editor, timeline, and rendering.
  • Understanding Your Usage — plan limits, voiceover usage, and subscriptions.
  • How to Use Templates — creating and using script templates.

Select a card to open its tutorial. The page header also includes Watch Tutorial.

If you cannot find or reopen a project

  • No matching project: Check the organization, clear the search, reset the stage to All Stages, and choose All. Check the remaining pages and Trash.
  • The wrong language opens: Return to the card and choose the intended language button. Check the language selector inside the project before continuing.
  • A language version shows a failure: Read that version's error message. The overall card badge may describe a different version's progress.
  • Work appears stuck: Open the relevant project state and inspect its message before repeating generation. Keep the project name and error text available if you contact support.
  • Permanently Delete is disabled: Select a Trash item first. Use Restore instead if your goal is to recover it.
  • A deleted project is absent from Trash: Recheck the organization. If it still is not listed, contact support with the project name; the dashboard does not provide a Restore control for an item that is no longer there.
