Browsing avatars, looks, and favorites
Use the Avatar Library to find a presenter, compare their available looks, and check which quality tiers a look supports. Then choose that look from your project's avatar picker.
Before you start
Sign in to VideoMule and select the organization you want to work in. Open Avatar Library from the sidebar. To use a look in a video, you also need a project; the selection steps below start on its Script page.
For a custom presenter, follow Training a Custom Avatar first. Check that your custom look is ready before choosing it for a project.
Understand people, looks, and slots
An avatar is the presenter or person. A look is a particular appearance of that person: an outfit, setting, pose, or camera angle. A card with a looks count opens the available appearances for that presenter.
For example, Brent has office and sofa looks, including front and side views. Choosing Brent identifies the person; choosing Office Front identifies the appearance to use in the video.
An avatar slot applies to a custom person you train. The Training ground explains that each new person uses one slot, while extra looks of an already-trained person do not use another slot. A card's looks count is therefore different from the Avatar slots meter. See Training a Custom Avatar for the custom-avatar workflow.
Choose a library view
Scroll below Training ground to reach the search and browsing controls.
| View | Use it to find |
|---|---|
| Your avatars | Custom avatars you have trained. If this view is empty, use the Training ground to begin training a presenter. |
| Stock catalogue | Ready-made presenters and their looks. |
| Favorites | Saved avatars you want to find again. |
Use the current counts shown in your library. The stock catalogue can change, so the counts in these screenshots may differ from yours.
Search, filter, and sort
- Choose Stock catalogue.
- Enter a presenter's name in Search avatars.
- Narrow the results with the filters you need.
- Open the sort menu, initially labeled Newest first, to change the order.
- Open a result to explore its looks. Use Next and Prev when results span multiple pages.
| Control | Choices |
|---|---|
| Gender | All genders, Female, Male |
| Type | All types, Photo avatar, Digital twin, Studio avatar |
| Supported quality | Any quality, Normal, Standard, High Quality |
| Sort | Newest first, Name (A → Z), Name (Z → A) |
The available filters depend on the view. Search and active filters appear beside the result count. Remove an individual filter with its × control, or choose Clear all to broaden the results.
For example, to find Brent for a project requiring High Quality, choose Stock catalogue, set quality to High Quality, and search for Brent.
Check the quality of a specific look
A quality badge on a library card helps you shortlist presenters. Open the person and click a look to see its preview and supported quality chips. Check the exact look you intend to use, especially when a particular tier is required.
The library's quality filter helps you find compatible choices; the project's Quality selector chooses the tier for your video. In the project picker, AVAILABLE QUALITY lists the selected look's supported tiers and displayed credit multipliers.
For rendering differences and credit guidance, see Avatar Quality Tiers. Use the rate displayed for your selected look rather than assuming every avatar type has the same rate.
Keep personal and team favorites
Avatar cards have two separate controls in their upper-right corner:
- The heart is your personal favorite control. Use Add to favorites to save a presenter, or Remove from favorites on an already-saved card. A personal favorite is yours alone; other members do not see it.
- The building control is labeled Save as team favorite, and it appears only for organization admins. A team favorite is shared: every member of the organization sees it, and any admin can remove it, not only the admin who saved it.
Removing a favorite of either kind deletes it outright. There is no undo and nothing lands in Trash, so an admin removing a team favorite removes it for everyone.
Open Favorites to revisit saved presenters. You can still search, sort, and filter this view. Favoriting a person is a way to find them again; you still choose the particular look in your project.
Select a look for a project
- Open your project's Script page and click Change Avatar.
- In AI avatar, click Select an avatar.
- Choose Stock Library or My Avatars. Search for a presenter, or use Favorites in the stock picker.
- Review Quality and the gender and type filters. The picker may preselect a gender to match the current voice; choose All to widen the results.
- Click the presenter. If they have multiple looks, choose the appearance you want. Use Back to characters to return to the people list.
- Review the look's preview, AVAILABLE QUALITY, and the voice shown under Speaks with. Click Select avatar when you have chosen the look.
- In AI avatar, review Intro, Outro, and Transitions, including the displayed duration estimates. Click Confirm to apply your choice, or Cancel to leave without applying it.
The preview helps you compare looks before confirming. For placement availability, template requirements, and what the avatar says, continue with Placing Avatars in Your Video. Generating the avatar clips is a later part of the video workflow.
If you cannot find the right avatar
- Your avatars is empty: switch to Stock catalogue to browse ready-made presenters, or follow the custom-avatar training guide.
- Search returns no matches: clear the search and filters, then add them back one at a time. Check which library view is selected.
- An avatar appears in the library but not in the project picker: check Stock Library versus My Avatars, turn off Favorites, and check the gender, type, and quality settings. The project may have preselected a gender based on its voice.
- The quality you need is unavailable: inspect another look's supported tiers or return to the library and filter by the required quality.
- A placement is unavailable: review your script template and the placement guide.
