Training a Custom Avatar
Train a reusable presenter from a clear photo or footage of yourself speaking. Open Avatar Library from the dashboard sidebar, then find Training ground. Choose Photo avatar for a single image or Digital twin for speaking footage. Digital twins require a short identity consent recording.
Each new person uses one avatar slot. Extra looks of someone you have already trained do not use another slot. Check Avatar slots at the top of the library for your organization's current allocation and availability. In training shows the number currently processing.
The Avatar Library shows your avatar slots and the number of avatars in training. Counts vary by organization.
Open Usage from the dashboard sidebar to review your organization's usage. See Capabilities and Limits for the limits reference.
Option A: Train a photo avatar
- In Training ground, find the Photo avatar card.
- Click Upload a photo and choose a JPG, PNG, or WebP image. The form lists a maximum size of 10 MB.
- Enter an Avatar name, such as My Presenter.
- Click Train photo avatar when the form is ready.
Upload a photo and enter an avatar name in the Photo avatar card. This capture shows the empty form before a file is selected.
For your photo:
- Include one person looking at the camera.
- Keep the face well lit, without sunglasses, hats, or heavy filters.
- Use close-up or waist-up framing with a business-like composition.
Follow the avatar's status in the library after submitting it. Completion time can vary.
Option B: Train a digital twin
- In Training ground, find the Digital twin card.
- Click Upload footage and choose footage of yourself speaking to the camera. The form lists MP4, WebM, or MOV, 15 seconds to 10 minutes, and a maximum size of 200 MB.
- Enter an Avatar name.
- Click Train digital twin when the form is ready, then follow the identity consent instructions in the app.
The Digital twin card lists footage requirements and explains that a webcam consent statement follows upload.
Talk directly to the camera throughout the clip. Use stable framing, good lighting, and clean audio. Keep just yourself in frame, with no cuts, overlays, or background music.
Record the consent statement (digital twins only)
After uploading footage, follow the app's instructions to record the consent statement through the webcam link. The person represented by the digital twin must complete this identity consent step before using the twin.
Avatar statuses
Check the avatar's status in Avatar Library before selecting it for a project. If training does not complete, review any message shown for the avatar. For help with a failed attempt, use the app's support option and include the status or error message.
Adding more looks
A look is another appearance of the same person, such as a different outfit, pose, or setting. Extra looks of a person you have already trained do not use another avatar slot. A person can hold up to 10 looks.
A slot stays occupied for as long as that person has any usable look. Deleting one look of a person who has others frees nothing; the slot comes back when the last one is gone. Training that fails does not hold a slot — a failed attempt never counts against your allocation.
Using your avatar
Use the library's Your avatars, Stock catalogue, and Favorites filters, or search by name. In a project, use the avatar picker to choose an available avatar and look.
See Placing Avatars in Your Video for placement instructions, including intros, outros, and transitions. Avatar Quality Tiers explains quality options.
If an avatar is already used in a project, check with support before deleting it.
