Create a Project
Set up a VideoMule project with a screen recording, a title, and your script and voiceover choices. A project keeps your recording, script, and voiceover together.
Starting a new project
Open Projects and choose New → Upload video to use a recording from your computer, or New → Record screen to open the recording choices. You can also open the setup form from the Add a new video card on Projects.
Start with an existing video or open the screen recorder from New.
Record screen opens Choose what to record. Screen Only captures your screen without audio. Screen & Audio captures your screen with microphone audio.
The in-app recorder offers screen-only or screen-with-microphone choices.

The upload form starts with Upload Video and Video Title, followed by the optional AI Avatar Presenter. Configuration contains the Language, Voice, and Script Template choices. Advanced options lets you review the script structure and choose whether to edit the script before generating voiceover.
Video upload requirements
In Upload Video, drag a recording into the upload area or choose browse. The uploader lists MP4, MOV, AVI, WebM, and MKV among its supported formats. Check the uploader's current requirements and Capabilities and Limits before preparing a large file.
Keep your recording concise. Avoid long gaps or extended periods on the same screen without showing an action.
Choosing the right video title
Enter a clear Video Title that describes the task in the recording. For example, “How to Create a Gmail account” is more useful than “Demo.” Keep the title consistent with the actions shown, and review the generated script for accuracy. A descriptive title also helps you find the project later.
Adding an AI avatar presenter
AI Avatar Presenter is optional. Click Choose avatar to browse a presenter for an intro, outro, or between sections, or continue without one.

Supported languages and voices
Under Configuration, choose your video's Language, then open the Voice selector. The voice dialog lets you filter and preview voices before choosing one.
Use Play preview to listen to a sample. Select a voice, then apply it with the Use button that includes the selected voice's name. Cancel closes the dialog without applying a new selection.
Choosing a script template
Choose a Script Template to guide how VideoMule writes your script. The default choices include:
- How-To Tutorial (In Depth)
- How-To quick
- Product Demo / Ad
- Listicle Video
Pick the structure that fits your recording. The picker also offers Create New Template for building a custom template.
Advanced options
Expand Advanced options to review these controls before choosing Generate Script:
- Intro & Outro: Introduction and Conclusion control whether opening and closing segments are included in the script.
- Transitions: Use this control for transitions between sections. The form offers Steps and Parts as transition-level choices. Review these choices alongside your selected template.
- Edit scripts first: Enable this option to review and edit the AI script before generating voiceover.
Review the script structure and choose whether to edit the script before generating voiceover.
When the setup is ready, choose Generate Script. Continue with Video Upload and Script Generation, then Reviewing and Editing Your Script.
After reviewing the script, continue to Generating Your Video and then the video editor. Script creation, voiceover generation, editing, and export are separate parts of the workflow.
Frequently asked questions
Can I upload a video that already has sound?
A recording may contain existing audio. The Script Template picker includes Follow Original Audio Style, with an Audio Only requirement shown when the option is unavailable. Review the available options for your recording and check the generated script before continuing to voiceover generation.
Can I change the voice after I create the project?
Review your voice choice before generating voiceover. See Reviewing and Editing Your Script for the script-stage voice controls and Generating Your Video for the next step. Voiceover generation and final video export are separate actions.
My video is longer than 3 minutes. Can I still use it?
Check the uploader's current requirements and Capabilities and Limits for input limits. See Plans and Usage Limits for plan guidance before preparing a longer recording.
Why is the AI taking a while to process my upload?
Wait for script preparation to finish before reviewing the result. See Video Upload and Script Generation for the upload and script workflow.
What happens if my video title doesn't match the content?
Use a title that accurately describes the recording, and review the generated script for mistakes. A clear title also makes the project easier to identify later.
