Bring Your Own ElevenLabs Voice

Bring Your Own ElevenLabs Voice

Clone your own voice with ElevenLabs and connect it to VideoMule so your videos are narrated in your voice. Follow these five steps to create an account, train a professional voice clone, and paste your API key.

VideoMule lets you narrate your videos with your own voice by connecting an ElevenLabs account. Once connected, the voices you create on ElevenLabs show up in your VideoMule Voice Library under Your voices.

This guide walks you through the whole process — from creating an ElevenLabs account to pasting your API key into VideoMule.

Step 1: Create an account on ElevenLabs

First, create an ElevenLabs account if you don't already have one.

Create your ElevenLabs account →

Sign up with your email (or Google), confirm your address, and log in to the ElevenLabs dashboard.

Step 2: Upgrade your plan

Cloning your own voice with the best quality uses Professional Voice Cloning (PVC), which is available on the Creator plan and above.

  • Creator (≈ $22/month) — the entry-level plan that unlocks Professional Voice Cloning and higher-quality audio output. This is the minimum plan most creators need.
  • Pro and higher — more monthly credits and higher-fidelity audio for heavier production use.

In the ElevenLabs dashboard, open Subscription (under your account) and upgrade to Creator or higher before training your voice.

Step 3: Train your voice

Now create your professional voice clone.

  1. In the ElevenLabs dashboard, go to Voices and click Add a new voice.
  2. Choose Professional Voice Clone.
  3. Upload your training audio, or record directly in the browser.

Recording tips for the best results:

  • Provide around 30 minutes of audio — ideally 5–6 clean segments of roughly 10 minutes each.
  • Use a single speaker only, with no background noise or music.
  • Speak in the style and language you want the final voice to use.
  • Complete the short verification step (read the on-screen prompt aloud) to confirm the voice is yours.

After you submit, ElevenLabs fine-tunes your voice. This usually takes 3–6 hours. You'll be notified when the voice is ready to use.

Step 4: Get your API key

VideoMule connects to ElevenLabs using an API key.

  1. In the ElevenLabs dashboard, open Developers → API Keys and click Create API Key.

  1. Give the key a name (for example, VideoMule), grant it access, and create it.

  1. Copy the key immediately — ElevenLabs only shows the full key once. After that you can only see the last few characters.

Step 5: Paste your API key into VideoMule

Finally, connect the key to VideoMule.

  1. In VideoMule, open the Voice Library from the dashboard sidebar.
  2. Find the ElevenLabs integration card and paste your API key.
  3. Click Connect, then click Sync voices to pull in the voices from your ElevenLabs account.

Your cloned voices now appear under Your voices in the Voice Library and can be selected when generating voiceovers for any project.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to clone my own voice?

No. VideoMule ships with a large catalogue of ready-to-use voices. Bringing your own ElevenLabs voice is optional — use it when you want your videos narrated in your own voice.

Why don't my voices show up after connecting?

Make sure the voice has finished fine-tuning on ElevenLabs (it can take a few hours), then click Sync voices. Newly created voices only appear after a sync.

My API key stopped working. What do I do?

Your key may have been revoked or regenerated on ElevenLabs. Create a new API key (Step 4) and reconnect it in the Voice Library.

Can I use Instant Voice Cloning instead?

You can, but the quality is lower. For a clone that closely matches your voice, we recommend Professional Voice Cloning on the Creator plan or above.
