Bring Your Own ElevenLabs Voice
Connect your ElevenLabs account to narrate VideoMule projects in your own voice. Your connected voices appear in the Voice Library under Your voices.
This guide covers creating a Professional Voice Clone, getting an API key, and connecting it to VideoMule. If you already have a trained voice and a key, go to Step 5. To generate new narration, your ElevenLabs account, voice, and API key must remain available for use.
Billing and usage
Voiceovers generated through your own connected ElevenLabs account use your ElevenLabs quota instead of VideoMule voiceover minutes. Your ElevenLabs plan and API usage are billed separately from VideoMule. Check the connected ElevenLabs workspace's balance and any credit limit on its API key before generating narration.

Step 1: Create an account on ElevenLabs
First, create an ElevenLabs account if you don't already have one.

Sign up with your email (or Google), confirm your address, and log in to the ElevenLabs dashboard.
Step 2: Upgrade your plan
ElevenLabs includes Professional Voice Cloning (PVC) on Creator and higher plans. Instant Voice Cloning starts on Starter; the Free plan does not include voice cloning.
For the professional clone described here, open Subscription from your ElevenLabs profile menu and choose Creator or higher. Check ElevenLabs pricing before subscribing. This subscription is separate from your VideoMule plan.
Step 3: Train your voice

In the ElevenLabs dashboard, go to Voices and click Create Voice.

Choose Professional Voice Clone.
The dialog states the Professional Voice Clone requirements, including the minimum clean audio and the Creator plan.

Upload your training audio, or record directly in the browser.
ElevenLabs recommends at least 30 minutes of clean speech in total, with 2–3 hours preferred for better results. Count the combined duration of all files: three 10-minute recordings total 30 minutes; six total 60 minutes. Follow the current ElevenLabs recording guidance when preparing your samples.
- Use a single speaker only, with no background noise or music.
- Speak in the style and language you want the final voice to use.
- Complete ElevenLabs' voice verification before submitting the voice for fine-tuning. Professional Voice Cloning is for your own voice.
Wait for ElevenLabs to finish fine-tuning. Check the voice's status in My Voices and its readiness notification before trying to generate narration. Training time varies with the queue and model.
Step 4: Get your API key
VideoMule connects to ElevenLabs using an API key.

Open the ElevenLabs API keys page.

Create a key for VideoMule. Give it a recognizable name, such as VideoMule, and review its permissions and credit limit.

Copy the key for the connection step below and store it securely.
ElevenLabs shows the full key once. Copy it before closing the dialog.
ElevenLabs keys can have endpoint permissions, credit limits, and access restrictions. Keep your key private, as you would a password. Never include it in a screenshot, public document, or support message.
Step 5: Paste your API key into VideoMule
- In VideoMule, open Voice Library from the dashboard sidebar.
- Find Use your own voice and the Connect your ElevenLabs account card.
- Paste the key into ElevenLabs API key, then click Connect.
- Open Your voices to find voices from the connected account. The setup instructions describe automatic syncing when you connect.
Connect your ElevenLabs account from Voice Library. Voiceover generation is billed to the connected ElevenLabs plan.
Use Your voices to find voices from your connected account, Catalogue to browse VideoMule's catalog, and Favorites to return to saved voices. Search by name, accent, or description, or use the language, gender, accent, and sort controls.
Use the library filters to find a voice. This example shows an unconnected account; counts vary by workspace and connection state.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to clone my own voice?
No. VideoMule includes a catalog of ready-to-use voices. Bringing your own ElevenLabs voice is optional; use it when you want your videos narrated in your own voice.
Why don't my voices show up after connecting?
Check that the voice is ready in ElevenLabs and that your API key belongs to the workspace containing it. In VideoMule, select Your voices and check whether search or language, gender, or accent filters are hiding it.
The setup instructions describe automatic initial syncing. If the voice still does not appear, contact support with the error text, without sharing your API key.
My API key stopped working. What do I do?
Check whether the ElevenLabs key was revoked or expired, whether its access restrictions changed, and whether its credit limit or workspace balance has been reached. If you replace the key, update the VideoMule connection to use the replacement. Keep the key private when contacting support.
Can I use Instant Voice Cloning instead?
ElevenLabs offers Instant Voice Cloning on Starter and higher plans, using a shorter recording workflow. Professional Voice Cloning uses more training audio and fine-tuning. See ElevenLabs' Instant Voice Cloning guide to choose a method.
What happens to my professional clone if I downgrade ElevenLabs?
ElevenLabs says that if you downgrade below Creator, your Professional Voice Clone remains in your account but cannot be used until you return to Creator or higher. See its Professional Voice Cloning guide for the current requirements.
