Choosing and creating script templates
A script template guides how VideoMule writes narration from your recording. Choose a default for a familiar video format, or create a reusable template with instructions for the opening, each step or section, and the ending.
You can inspect and choose templates from the new-video form before uploading a recording. To generate a script, complete the rest of the project setup described in Creating a Video Project.
Choose a template
- Open Projects, then choose New → Upload video.
- In Configuration, find Script Template and open the dropdown.
- Choose the template that fits your video's purpose. Check the selected name before continuing.
- Open Advanced options to review the sections you want included.
The dropdown offers these defaults:

Existing personal templates appear under My Templates. Their descriptions can help you distinguish similar names.
Choose by the structure you want the viewer to follow. For example, use a how-to template for setting up a form; use a product demo template when the aim is to show why that form builder is useful.
Create a custom template
Use a custom template when you want to reuse a particular narration style or set of instructions.
- Open Script Template → Create New Template.
- Enter a Template Name. Use a name that describes its purpose, such as
Beginner software walkthrough. The form shows a 50-character limit. - Choose Visibility. Select Only Me for a personal template. The form also offers Everyone as the alternative visibility setting; keep Only Me selected when creating a template for your own use.
- Optionally select Add Description. This description appears in the template list; the form shows a 500-character limit. Describe when to use the template rather than putting all your narration instructions here.
- Optionally select Add Introduction and enter Introduction Instructions.
- Fill in Script Instructions for Each Step/Section. This is required and supplies the directions for the main body of the script.
- Optionally select Add Conclusion and enter Conclusion Instructions.
- Click Save Template to Library. Then check the Script Template selection before continuing with project setup.
Introduction and conclusion are optional sections. Once you add either section, its instructions are marked as required. Use its × control to hide the section if you do not want to supply those instructions. Cancel exits the template builder without saving the draft.
Saving a template and generating a project's script are separate actions. Save Template to Library belongs to the template builder; Generate Script belongs to the new-video form.
Example instructions you can reuse
For a beginner software walkthrough, try these fields:

For each step, name the action and exact visible control. Explain the result in plain language. Follow the recorded order and do not invent actions.Conclusion Instructions — optional
Summarize the completed result and suggest one relevant next step.Write directions that can apply across recordings. Specify the intended audience, level of detail, and how to describe actions. Review the generated script for accuracy even when the instructions ask VideoMule to follow the recording closely.
Control the script's structure
After choosing a template, open Advanced options:

In the initial How-To Tutorial (In Depth) configuration, Introduction, Conclusion, Transitions, and Edit scripts first are enabled, with Steps selected. Check these controls for the current project instead of relying only on the template name.
Template instructions describe how the narration should be written. These project options determine which surrounding segments are included. For a walkthrough that starts immediately with the task, turn off Introduction. For a video with a brief opening and closing summary, leave both opening and closing segments enabled and give each clear instructions.
How structure affects avatars
An avatar needs a corresponding script segment in which to appear:

When all three sections are disabled, the new-video form explains that there is nowhere to place the avatar and directs you to enable a section in Advanced options. Choosing an avatar alone does not supply those missing sections. For placement details, see Placing Avatars in Your Video.
Troubleshooting
Save Template to Library is unavailable
Enter a template name and the required per-step/section instructions. If you added an introduction or conclusion, fill in its instructions too, or hide that optional section.
The opening or ending is missing
Check Advanced options → Introduction / Conclusion. If you are creating a custom template, also supply instructions for the sections you want to write.
There is nowhere to place an avatar
Enable the relevant script section in Advanced options, then review the avatar placement controls again.
The narration needs a different level of detail
Choose the default that best matches your purpose, or make a custom template with explicit instructions about detail and tone. Use Edit scripts first to review the result before voiceover generation. Continue with Reviewing and Editing Your Script.
